On Friday, Dec. 4, the boys’ and girls’ basketball teams played St. Albert. The boys played the Falcons at St. Albert, and the girls played the Saintes at home.

The boys played a tough game against the Falcons, and came out with a victory ending the game 44-36.

Although they were 0 for 14 from the three-point line, their hard work on the defensive end paid off to help the Trojans get their third win of the season.

The Trojans outscored the Falcons in two out of the four quarters. Senior Ryan Hawkins was the leading scorer of the night with 18 points, junior Garrett Franken and sophomore Scott Leonard were next in line with 9 points each. Senior Brendan Holmes followed with 6 points and 3 rebounds. The Trojans now have a record of 2-0.

On the girls’ side, they were able to fight through a tough game, and also come out on top with a score of 75-74.

After the first quarter the girls were ahead 22-19 with a 8-0 run late in the quarter. By halftime, the Saintes kept fighting, and were able to tie up the game 39-39.

In the middle of the third quarter the Trojans were down to the Saintes 49-46, but that didn’t stop the Trojans. By the end of the third quarter the Trojans showed what they’ve been working for, and ended the third quarter leading 58-54.

By the end of the fourth quarter, the Saintes were only trailing by two, and were shooting free throws with only 36 seconds left. After the buzzer, the Trojan girls had once again earned their third win of the season, to make their record 3-0.

Tonight, Dec. 8, both boys and girls play the Red Oak Tigers. Boys will play at home, and girls will be away. JV starts at 6:00 and varsity follows at 7:30. The theme is black and gold.
