New Guidance Counselor
November 3, 2015
Have you been to the guidance office lately? If not, stop by sometime to see the new guidance counselor Michelle Huber.
Huber came from La Vista, Neb., to Atlantic to pursue her goal of working with children. This is Huber’s first job in the educational field.
Huber attended Creighton and there, she wanted to be a pediatric dentist. While going to school, she did many internships and realized she wanted to work with children in a different way. In Huber’s internship, she worked with 14 students and they helped her realize she wanted to go into psychology and become a guidance counselor.
Huber had been looking for her first job as a guidance counselor and one happened to open up in Atlantic. “I absolutely love it. I love the small community and everyone is very friendly here,” Huber said.
Huber likes to make crafts. She spends time at Okoboji in the summer with her husband Dustan, who is a mechanic.
Huber would like everyone to know that her door is always open and she can help with any problems that need addressed, help with college, and anything you need help with. “ I am here to help but I can’t help if I don’t know what is going on,” Huber said.
Huber plans on staying in Atlantic and continuing to be one of Atlantic’s guidance counselors for many years to come.
