This year at AHS there are four exchange students. Junior Tim Holand is from Berlin, Germany. Holand is living with Jeff and Samantha Green. He is 16 years old.

Holand is taking culinary arts, and is participating in football this year.

He said, “Traveling to the United States was hard because homeland security at the border was tough, and I don’t think airports are fun either.” Holand said it took a long time to get here.

Holand said there are a lot of small differences from Germany to the United States. One of the biggest differences is in the United States there is air conditioning and all the drinks are sweet.

Holand has 2 stepbrothers and one half-sister. One of his stepbrothers is 16 and the other is 18, his half sister is 6. His stepdad owns his own water filter company, and his mom works as a secretary with his stepdad.

Holand said he wanted to come to the U.S. to learn better English and try something new.
