With their 2015 season coming to an end, the boys tennis team is ready to compete at districts on Friday, May 15.

Senior Nick Podhajsky and his brother, freshman Grant Podhajsky, are aiming to play each other in the final round. With (Nick) Podhajsky playing #1 singles, and (Grant) Podhajsky playing #2 singles, they are hoping to meet each other in the end, and both advance to state.

(Grant) Podhajsky said, “My ultimate goal for tomorrow is to be playing my brother in the final match to go to state.”

Seniors Ben Parker and Kyle Krueger are playing #1 doubles and freshmen Cooper McDermott and Luke Hohenberger are playing #2 doubles. The tournament will be held in Carroll starting at 9:00 a.m.

Even after losing 4 of the 6 varsity players from last year, the young team ended up having a winning season with a record of 7-4.

(Grant) Podhajsky said, “Overall I think the season went really well, in the end there were a few matches that I could’ve won. I want to have a lot of practice in the off season, and I hope Nick will still want to play with me.”

The Trojans will be losing 6 seniors after this season including Nick Podhajsky, Ben Parker, Kyle Krueger, Cain Stuart, Justin Somers, and Mark Stinn. Even though the boys will be losing several players, the team also has a strong group of freshmen, including 3 who play varsity this year: Grant Podhajsky, Cooper McDermott, and Luke Hohenberger.

This Saturday, May 16, the girls have their regional tournament. On Monday, May 18, the girls play in Red Oak at the H-10 tournament. Good luck to all of the boys players that play at their districts tournament tomorrow!
