Yesterday, April 23, the girls and boys soccer teams ended the night with a win. The girls played Denison at home, and won 5-1. The boys played Nodaway Valley, and won 7-3.

Senior Nicole Bair scored 3 goals for the girls and senior Tori Bruck scored 1.

Bair said, “I feel like I played pretty good last night. This year is going a lot better than I thought it would be. As a team I feel like we are not only communicating better, but passing the ball better and working more as a team.”

On the boys side, senior Matt Smith scored 3 of the 7 goals for the Trojans. Junior Tanner Mauk, Ryan Hawkins, David Thompson, and sophomore Kolton Carey all scored one goal.

Smith said, “I played decent, I could’ve played a lot better. In the first half we were down 2 nothing, I definitely feel like the score could’ve been the other way around, but after halftime and the coach talked to us we came out and played a lot better.” After halftime the Trojans came back from losing 0-2, to winning the game 7-3.

Tonight, the girls have a game at Tri-Center. This Saturday, the boys have a tournament at home starting at 10:00 am. On Monday, April 27, the boys will travel to Creston to play the Panthers starting at 6:30. On Tuesday, April 28, the girls will travel to St. Albert to play the Knights at 6:30.
