Boys Tennis Victory Against the Panthers

Last Friday, March 10, the girls and boys tennis played the Creston Panthers. The girls traveled to Creston and lost 0-9, while the boys played Creston at home and defeated the Panthers 8-1.

In singles, the boys had a strong lead over Creston. #1 player senior Nick Podhajsky won 10-2, #2 freshman Grant Podhajsky won 10-2, #3 senior Ben Parker won 10-3, #4 senior Kyle Krueger won 10-5, #5 senior Cain Stewart won 11-9, and #6 freshman Cooper McDermott won 10-2. In doubles #1 (Nick) Podhajsky and (Grant) Podhajsky won 10-2, #2 Parker and Krueger won 10-3, and #3 Stewart and McDermott lost a close match 8-10.

On the girls side, all the players fought hard throughout their matches but couldn’t pull through to win. In singles #1 player senior Codi Hitch lost 0-8, #2 sophomore Jena Brosam lost 0-8, #3 senior Grace Jacob lost 4-8, #4 sophomore Bailey Steffens lost 0-8, #5 freshman Heather Freund lost 0-8, and #6 sophomore Olivia Davis lost 3-8. In doubles #1 Brosam and Jacob lost 1-8, #2 Hitch and Steffens lost 2-8, and #3 Freund and Davis lost 2-8.

Boys and girls have their second meet Tuesday, April 14 against the Glenwood Rams at 4:30. Boys are home and girls are away.
