Archery Sends Four to State

The archery club had four students qualify for state, and are hoping for an open spot so another member can join.

On Saturday, Feb 14, the Atlantic High School Archery Club participated in the Fourth Annual Valley Archery tournament held in Des Moines. Atlantic finished sixth as a team and had many place well. Senior Luke Frisbie placed 18 with a score of 271, sophomore Logan Russell placed 22 scoring 266 points, and sophomore Taylor Kirchner scored 262 points to place 27.

On the girls side, freshman Heather Freund placed 28 with 255 points. Freund was the best finisher for the girls. Freund has also qualified for state along with Russell, Kirchner, and middle schooler Jordan Zarbano. Frisbie had a qualifying score, however, it was late in the season and all the shooting spots have been taken.

Coach Justin Williams said, “We are hoping for a spot to open up.”
