After Thursday’s swim meet, coach Dean Junker commented that his team is young. “The Sioux City boys are a well-established swim team and know what swimming is all about,” said Junker. “Overall, we did not fare well.” The Atlantic boys swim team is “inexperienced” and has a lot to learn, according to Junker.
Most of Junkers’s swim practices run between one and half hours to two hours. The swim team includes freshman Kalob Flory, junior Chase Holmes, junior Caleb Kelly, freshman Cody McCreedy, sophomore Damon Miller, freshman Keegan Osborn, sophomore Cory Pottebaum, freshman Jacob Redler, freshman Gratt Reed, freshman Eric Wieser, and freshman Jene Zarbano.
In looking ahead, Junker said he expects the boys to take time off and continue to develop. A swim meet usually lasts between two to four hours and that depends on the schedule of events.
The boys’ next swim meet is at Marshalltown tomorrow, Dec. 13.
