Last Friday evening, the Trojans suffered a 35-13 loss to the Winterset Huskies. The Huskies started out with a 15-0 lead on the Trojans, however, the Trojans scored two touchdowns in a row and ended the first half trailing 15-13. In the second half, the Trojans were shut out 23-0 by a strong Huskie defense.

Head coach Eric Waldstein said, “Winterset caught some breaks and we didn’t get some calls. We also had some mental mistakes at key points in the game.” Waldstein also commented on senior Joey Walker’s game. Walker went out with an injury in the third quarter and came back within the next few plays. Waldstein said, “Joe is one of the toughest kids I’ve ever coached and he is a competitor. He takes a beating out there and still comes back for more.” Walker passed for 188 yards.

The Trojans fall to 3-5 and will host the 6-2 Creston Panthers this Friday night to close out the season. “This week is dedicated to the seniors. We want to send them out on a positive note, and winning this game would really set the tone for next season as well,” said Waldstein.
