This past week, three former Atlantic students were arrested on counts of Delivery of Controlled Substance (marijuana) and Drug Delivery to Minors (2 counts). Current AHS students learned of the news through KSOM stories and Twitter posts.

Atlantic High School principal Heather McKay said she was “heartbroken and concerned” when she heard of the arrests of these former students.  “There are so many people who try to keep kids safe and help them make good choices, but ultimately it comes down to the individual.  I always hope that people want more for their lives than the choices we sometimes make.”

McKay said there isn’t going to be a huge initiative that will be pushed out in response to the situation, but said we can “count on more drug searches” in the future.
