Last Friday evening, the Trojans fell short 21-24 to the Harlan Cyclones. Freshman Dillon Sonntag scored the first touchdown of the night on a four yard run. Senior Joey Walker had two touchdowns on the night with a two-point conversion from senior Tristen Benn.

Head coach Eric Waldstein said, “For the most part we played pretty well. We had opportunities to win the game.”

Junior Brendan Holmes said, “ We played our hearts out, but they capitalized on their big plays more than we did.”

Waldstein said, “I keep saying over and over that the margin of error in this district is paper thin, 5-6 plays every game, and the team that makes those 5-6 plays will win the game.  Unfortunately, we didn’t make those plays.  We will continue to get better and learn from our mistakes.”

As the Trojans fall to 1-2 in district play, they remain 2-3 on the overall season. They will host DCG this Friday night at the Trojan Bowl for the homecoming game, beginning at 7:30 p.m. The theme for students is black and gold.
