Cross Country Meets Goals at Swan Lake

 Last Saturday, the boys and girls cross country teams traveled to Carroll for the annual Kuemper Invitational, held at Swan Lake State Park. The boys finished 10th with 225 points, and the girls finished fifth with 153 points out of 11 teams. The best finish came from junior Tiffany Williams with a second place finish at 16:42.

Following Williams was sophomore Alexis Brockman (19:14), senior Ashleigh Waltz (19:40), senior Allie Siggins (19:41), freshman Emily Saeugling (19:43), senior Savannah Sorensen (19:47) and junior Haley Carlson (20:54). According to head coach Paul Iekel, the girls did a good job overall and beat the teams they needed to beat.

On the boys side of the meet, junior Ryan Hawkins came in as the first finisher for Atlantic, placing 21st with a time of 19:18. Coming in behind Hawkins, sophomore Phoenix Shadden finished 31st (19:35), followed by senior Marshal McDermott (20:46), freshman Cale Pellet (20:47), senior Reid Nichols (22:23), junior David Thomsen (23:00), and freshman Kole Schmitt (23:19).

The teams head to Creston on Tuesday. The meet begins at 5 p.m. and is held at the SWICC campus.
