Due to the bad weather on Tuesday, the cross country meet in Clarinda was cancelled, which made Jefferson- Scranton open their meet to the many teams that were scheduled to run in Clarinda. The Jefferson-Scranton meet took place on Thursday, Sept. 11. The course was a new experience for Atlantic. Senior cross country runner Ashleigh Waltz said, “The course was flat which was a nice change.”

Both the girls and boys had runners place in the top 20, which led the girls to a 3rd place finish and the boys to a 7th place finish, both out of 11 teams. It was a large meet, with varsity and junior varsity running together, and a total of 137 runners in the girls race and 202 runners in the boys. The girls top finishers were Tiffany Williams (2nd), Ashleigh Waltz (17th), and Karly Monson, Alexis Brockman, and Savannah Sorenson, who finished all in a row at 27th, 28th, and 29th. The top finishers for the boys were more spread out and a little slower than the girls times. Ryan Hawkins led the Trojan runners getting 14th. Following him was Pheonix Shadden (24th), Marshal McDermott (34th), and Zach Brooks (37th).

The Trojans are preparing to run on Monday in Red Oak.
