Last Thursday through Saturday, Feb. 18-20, Atlantic sent six wrestlers to Wells Fargo Arena for the State wrestling tournament. This is the most wrestlers Atlantic has sent to State since 2012 when they sent eight.

The Trojans were very successful having four wrestlers place. Junior Carter Cox made it all the way to the finals and put up a great fight, but fell short and placed second. Sophomore Kole Hansen lost his second match but finished strong on the backside of the bracket, placing fifth.

Junior Zac Stork won the first match on Thursday and another match on Friday, but ended up placing eighth.

Sophomore John McConkey lost his first match to undefeated Carter Isley from Albia who would eventually go on to win State. McConkey won his next two and came out with an eighth-place finish.

Freshman Chase McClaren and senior Keagan Hosfelt did not place, but both still had great seasons. The Trojans have a very bright future and are very hungry to make it back to the state tournament next year!
