Mahala Kemp is a first year journalist. One of Kemp’s favorite pieces of work that she has done was her story about the school’s dress code, working alongside a fellow first year journalist Nicolas McBride. She really liked how the story was done because it covered the whole subject and not just certain parts of the dress code. Kemp even mentioned that they interviewed some of the students that like wearing hats and students that wear tank tops often. 

In her freetime she enjoys hanging out with friends and also driving around with them at night. She also enjoys reading young-adult romance books. Her favorite author is Colleen Hoover and her favorite book of hers is Heart Bones. 

Kemp has one older brother Keegan and one little brother Layton who she enjoys playing with. Kemp’s family also has two Australian Shepherds Bernie and Minnie. 

One interesting thing about Kemp is that her favorite thing is Subway’s mayonnaise.
