Trojans battle rival for spot in substate

The eighth-ranked Atlantic Trojans play their conference rivals, the Harlan Cyclones, this Thursday at 7 p.m. at Abraham Lincoln High School in Council Bluffs.  The Trojans had a close first round match-up against the Red Oak Tigers Monday night.  Atlantic was down at the end of the first quarter, but took the lead 22-17 at the end of the first half.  The Trojans came out victorious Monday Feb. 20 (47-40).
Forward Dalton Franken was leading scorer with 16 points, followed by Blake Esbeck with 12 points.  As a junior Dalton Franken passed the 1,000-point career mark Monday.  He now has 1,011 points.

Carroll High School came out victorious against Denison-Schleswig 71-56 on Feb 20.
Bishop Heelan Catholic squeaked past Sergeant Bluff-Luton 58-55 in overtime.
Carroll and Bishop Heelan Catholic travel to the neutral site of Maple Valley-Anthon-Oto to see who will head to Denison for Substate.

Harlan got the win against Glenwood Monday night, even after being down 23-20 at halftime.  The Cyclones ended up winning 63-31. The Cyclones had a 43-8 run in the second half against the Rams.
Atlantic and Harlan will travel to Abraham Lincoln to battle for the chance to head to Denison for Substate.

The winner of District 1 and District 2 will meet at Denison-Schleswig to see who will get to travel to Des Moines and play in the Wells Fargo Arena for State.
