Christmas is an enjoyable and memorable time for many people. Celebrations can last one day or even the whole month. This holiday is filled with traveling, food, movies, decorating, family time, shopping, and lots more. Christmas is a time many people look forward to throughout the whole year. Being with family and friends and making fun memories are just a little part of what makes Christmas so special.
However long you choose to celebrate gift-giving and acts of service for others is a very special and meaningful part of Christmas. Whether you decorate big, bright, or simple, decorating the tree is a fun group activity for everyone. Many people tend to decorate their trees because they see them more than the outside of their houses.
AHS Needle conducted a survey amongst the AHS Student Body. 91.7% of people who took the survey answered that they decorate their tree with family and friends. Several people have multiple trees, some for decor, some for gifts, some for their own theme, and some for their own rooms.
There are many traditions all around the world and there are new ones people make every year. 67.7% of people asked want to start doing more games and activities with family and friends. Emerie Jones said “ My family does a Secret Santa and white elephant exchange. The most common traditions during Christmas are decorating the trees, decorating your home, playing in the snow, cooking and baking together, watching movies, going caroling, playing games as a group, and giving gifts or acts of service to each other. Some of the most common and meaningful acts of service are cleaning someone’s house or car, cooking a meal for someone, and visiting or playing games with kids at hospitals. 82% of people answered that they exchange gifts, and 57% of those people answered that they exchange those gifts on Christmas day. A new tradition that Sarah Birge said ” I want to start baking cookies with my mom or dad.”
The communities also have lots of fun things for families and friends to do around this holiday season. Some common events are contests, free meals, giveaways, parties, caroling groups, parades, Secret Santa’s, church services, Christmas light shows, and games. Christmas is a memorable holiday and a time when people can help others in many ways. Remember to stay safe and warm this season.
