About the Contributors
Ella Meyer, Co-Lead Podcast Producer
Senior Ella Meyer is a co-lead podcast editor/producer and has been involved in journalism for 3 years. Meyer's favorite thing about journalism is how close the community is.“It's more like a family.” Meyer attended MediaNow camp for two summers, where she learned to be a better journalist and a leader. Meyer is the NHS president and is “proud she got out of her shell” and went out for something. Meyer described herself as funny, very nice to everyone, and also as a leader. Meyer's favorite thing that she has accomplished in journalism is starting up the podcast and making it “bigger and better.” Meyer enjoys taking new journalists under her wing and helping them. She helps the new podcasters by controlling the soundboard and guiding them to sound better. She also TA's one of the Intro to Journalism classes. Outside of school, Meyer works at the Heritage House as a Dietary Aid. “I enjoy helping those who are in need, and my job allows me to do that.”

Kate Nichols, Co-Lead Podcast Producer
Kate Nichols, a junior at AHS, is one of the lead editors of the AHS Needle Podcast, The Point. Nichols has been involved in journalism for two years and joined because it “seemed interesting” and she loved having Ms.Berryhill as a teacher in freshman English. Last year in journalism Nichols wrote a few stories including: “Seniors’ Advice to Underclassmen,” “Under the Influence,” and “The Pink Tax.” Nichols said her favorite part of journalism last year was making an ad for the local business, Your Forte. She encourages others to join journalism because you are able to “go at your own pace” and you don’t get a lot of direction so you are able to be creative in your own way. This year in journalism she looks forward to “reviving” The Point podcast since many people haven’t heard about it.
Outside of journalism, Nichols loves to paint, bake, and cook. She occupies a lot of her spare time reading, as that is one of her favorite activities. When she grows up she hopes to go to college to become a forensic anthropologist. For her junior year she is looking forward to getting through another positive school year.
