Swim into Regionals with a splash! AHS girls’ swimming has their Regional meet coming up on Saturday. The 11 girls will compete in Johnston at noon.
The girls have been practicing since August and this will be the last meet until State. The Regional meet plays an important role in qualifying for State. A swimmer can move on to state if they place in the top 32 for an event, or if they meet the time standard established.
Head coach Dean Junker says he expects all events to make it to state. “Whenever I have a swimmer in the water, I’m excited to watch.” Junker said. Dazia Sorensen, a member of the AHS swim team, said physically the team has gotten a lot stronger and more confident in the way they swim. “I think that everybody is going to perform to the best of their abilities,” Sorensen said. She also believes the team will send some girls to state.
