AHS teachers share their enthusiasm for history

Junior Aaron Buboltz contemplates the history of the world.

By Paul Honke

History is a controversial subject. Some people hate it and think it is boring, while others find it fascinating and are eager to know more.  The history teachers at Atlantic High School are very enthusiastic about history. To them not only is it a job but also the fact that what happens in the past affects the future.

World history teacher Terry Hinnzmann, Advanced Placement American history teacher Tony Wiley, and American History teacher Trace Peterson all agree that all pieces of history are important.

When asked about their favorite period of history, all three had different reponses.

Peterson: “My favorite is the 1960’s in American history.”

Wiley: “My favorite is the American Revolution to the Constitution.”

Hinnzman: “My favorite is American history from the 20th century and onwards.”

All three of the teachers say that no period of history is not important.

“You can’t say any time line isn’t important because it leads to the identity of the US.” says  Peterson.
