EDITORIAL: Superintendent Barber off to a Great Start
Ahsneedle editor Shelby Pelzer expresses appreciation for Mr. Barber’s visibility in the district
Superintendent Steven Barber has shaken the school district in his first few months of working in Atlantic, becoming a visible presence across ACSD. Barber has attended numerous fall sporting events including away games, and he even wrote personalized letters to some of the softball players.
Softball player Ally Anderson said, “I thought it was very nice of him to take the time to write us letters. I noticed him at some of our games this summer and thought right away that he was going to be a great new start to our school district.” Barber also attended a swim team practice.
During the football game at Denison on Friday, Sept. 8, KSOM interviewed Barber during halftime. Listeners couldn’t help but hear his enthusiasm and feel excited that he was supporting the team at an away game.
The visibility of the superintendent can set a tone for the school year. By supporting athletes and other extracurricular activities, Barber shows leadership.
