Trojan Volleyball Shows Improvement as Season Opens

Trojan Volleyball tallies four wins in early competitions.

The Trojans girls volleyball came away with 2 victories Tuesday night in their home opener.

On Tuesday, Aug. 22, the volleyball team hosted their home opener. It was a four team tournament that consisted of Atlantic, Earlham, Cam and ACGC.

First match the Trojans squared of against the Earlham Cardinals and lost the first set 20 to 22, and the second set 19 to 21.

Next they played the Chargers of ACGC. The Trojans won both sets by the scores of 21 to 15 and 21 to 19.

The Trojans ended the night off by defeating CAM in both set 24 to 22 and 21 to 12 respectively.

Coach Bireline said, “The girls played well, good serve receive and good passing.”

Sophomore Chloe Davis found her into the rotation at the beginning of the year. “Good, we need to work on hitting errors and making clean plays,” Davis said when asked about her thoughts on where the team needs to improve on.

Over the weekend they competed in a tournament coming away with a 2-3 record. Their two wins came against Denison and CAM. The girls have already matched their number of wins from last year with 4 on the year so far. Head coach Emma Bireline also recorded her 10th career win as coach with the volleyball team.

The next game for the team will be Thursday Aug. 31. At home against the Glenwood Rams with varsity at 7.
