Morgan Barkley keeps herself extremely busy with her many animals. Barkley has so many animals, it’s hard to count them on two hands. Winnie the Pooh and Tabasco are just two of the many names she has for her animals.
Barkley has lived on a farm ever since she was a little girl. She is a proud owner of 20 head of cattle in which she has her own bull, Winnie the Pooh. Barkley and her family also have three dogs: Tabasco, a bassett hound, Hercules, a corgi and Nike, a purebred labrador. Along with her dogs and cattle she owns, “probably 10 cats” and that’s just a guess because she has so many. Barkley also has two pot bellied pigs, Betty and Bert, and two goats, Eddie and Albert. Along with her many animal chores, she helps with farming and fence building.
Barkley has actively participated in the Cass County Fair since she was eight years old; she has shown cattle and goats. Barkley has won rate of gain with her cattle for four years, and was top of her class every year. Her favorite memory with her animals is showing because, “I love going to the Cass County Fair and being with my animals all week.”
FFA is one of her many memories of high school. She has participated in many contests such as the farm business test where she, “has learned a lot.” She was awarded the FFA star greenhand during her freshman year. Barkley likes growing in many aspects of agriculture in her ag classes with Mr. Miller. This has lead to her future profession of majoring in ag business and attending Northwest Missouri State because, “I love agriculture and everything to do with the farm.”
