Trying Something New
March 31, 2017
Next year’s marching season, there will be many changes that will differentiate this year from the past. Marching band director, Jarrod O’Donnell, decided to interview each of the students who want to be a section leader instead of just picking them. “I talked to a guy at All-State who does leadership program and he said you should talk to each of the students about being a leader and if they would be effective leaders instead of choosing a section leader each year.”
So far there are 14 band students who have signed up to be section leader. What O’Donnell will be looking for in these 14 students is how well they can play their music so they can teach the new band members in their section, if they have good leadership skills so they can motivate the new members to do their best everyday and teach them how to march.
The interviews will begin sometime during the week of April 3-7.
