Choir and band never stops in the Iekel house. Anna Iekel used to live in Cokato, Minnesota, and when she was five, the family moved to Atlantic, Iowa. Anna went to public school for awhile until her fourth and fifth grade teacher Mrs. Hansen talked to her about homeschool. In seventh and eighth grade Anna was homeschooled. “There were pros and cons about both public and homeschool,” Iekel said. “When you are home schooled you have more time, but you get to see your friends a lot more at public school.”
She has participated in band, choir, cross country, track and NHS. Iekel’s favorite activity is choir. “It’s just fun with all the different ways you can go about it.”
Iekel plans on going to school for musical education and to minor in Spanish. Iekel said, “I thought about what I loved doing, and the answer was music.”
The most important memory throughout highschool and her life would be making it to All State sophomore year. She enjoyed meeting different kinds of people at All State.
Iekel’s dad Paul Iekel was also her cross country coach and encouraged her to do good in anything she tried. Her mom on the other hand takes care of encouraging her in school and the arts.
Iekel would like to be remembered as a nice caring and joyful person to be around. If she ever won the lottery, she would set up a scholarship fund and give scholarships out to any kids in need or in extra curricular activities.
