Atlantic High School has added two more people to their long list of student accomplishments.  Sophomore Majerus Dulberg and senior Zaria Agboglo’s poems were selected for the Hot Dish Magazine. Dulberg wrote “ABC’s Poem,” http://www.hotdishmagazine.com/abcs-poem.html and Agboglo wrote “Eternal Beauty,” http://www.hotdishmagazine.com/eternal-beauty.html.  The title of the Hot Dish Magazine “Her Voice Remains” is taken from the 23rd line of Agboglo’s poem.

Dulberg said he has been writing poems for five years before entering the contest. “I was in disbelief at first. I did not expect [my poem] to be published and then I was excited. I was proud of myself for accomplishing such a thing.”

Dulberg also said that writing poems calms him down and is fun for him. “It is a good way to express my emotions,” he said.

Agboglo said she felt honored because her poem was published. She started writing poems recently in Creative Writing class.  She likes to write poems because it “releases energy.”

English teacher Rachelle Lipp encouraged her students to submit their work to the publication. “I have seen Zaria grow up as a writer. She has been taking risks in her writings and it’s paying off greatly. And, Majerus is challenging himself with his pieces.”
