Trojans End Regular Season on a High Note

On Thursday, Feb. 16, the Trojan boys’ basketball team faced the Denison-Schleswig Monarchs to end their 2016-17 regular season. The Trojans defeated the Monarchs 66-60, finishing their regular season with a 16-5 record.

In the beginning of their season the team went on a 6-0 winning streak taking down Winterset, St. Albert, Red Oak, Creston, Glenwood, and Shenandoah.

The team’s next game was against Kuemper Catholic. The Knights are currently number one in the Hawkeye 10 conference, with a record of 20-2. The Trojans fell to the Knights 67-73.

The team lost the next two games, but then bounced back with wins against Denison and Glenwood.

The next game was lost in overtime against Lewis Central.

The Trojans then went on a 4-0 run defeating Clarinda, the number one ranked team in Nebraska: Elmwood Murdock, Red Oak, and Harlan.

Their next and final loss was on the road against Kuemper, for the second time this season.

Since then, the team has defeated Creston, Clarinda, Treynor, and finally Denison.

Now the team is on the road to State, and has entered district play. They’re facing off against Winterset tonight for the second time this season.

Tip-off is at 8 p.m.
