Boys’ Swim Team is on to State
February 6, 2017
Last Saturday the boys’ swim team traveled to Johnston in a district meet. The team qualified 5 events to state in what some thought to be one of the toughest districts in the state.
Senior Damon Miller qualified in the 100 & 200 meter free. Miller placed fifth in the 100 with a time of 47.87 and seventh in the 200 with a 1:48.00. Junior Nik Landhuis placed third with a 55.30 in the backstroke. Miller and Landhuis were the only Trojans to qualify in an individual event.
The Trojans also qualified two relays for the State meet. These relays are the 200 and 400 free relays. The relay teams consisted of Junior Jake Redler, Senior Eric Weiser, Junior Nik Landhuis, and Senior Damon Miller. The 200 relay placed fourth with a time of 1:31.32. In the 400 free relay placed third and swam a time of 3:22.52 earning them a spot in the State Swim Meet.
Senior Damon Miller is happy to qualify for the state meet once again, but is happier that he has a team to join him this time.
