Trojans Lose a Tough One in Harlan

Tuesday, Jan 31. The Atlantic girls basketball team traveled to Harlan to take on the Harlan Cyclones in a Hawkeye 10 conference game. The Trojans are 1-16 on the season while the cyclones are 6-9.

The game was close throughout, the cyclones were up by 6 heading into the third quarter of play. Despite Atlantic putting up 16 in the third and 19 in the fourth it was not enough to edge the cyclones. Harlan came away with a 64-58 win in Harlan giving the trojans the loss.

For the trojans sophomore Alyssa Ginther dropped 17 points while sinking 4 three pointers. Freshman Mckenzie Waters recorded 14 while sophomore Baylee newell finished with 11. Senior Catherine Leonard led the team in rebounds finishing with 11 which adds to her season total of 172 on the season.

The Trojans will travel to Council Bluffs to take on the Abraham Lincoln Lynx on Friday, Feb. 3. The girls look to earn their second win of the season.
