Friday night the Atlantic football team traveled to Creston to take on the #3 Panthers in Class 3A football action.
The Trojans headed into the week hungry for a win after dropping three straight games after beginning the season 1-0. Creston was 4-0 coming off a win against Denison-Schleswig whom Atlantic had played just two weeks prior.
Atlantic began the game with the ball but failed to move the ball after one first down on the opening drive, and was forced to punt.
Two big plays later Creston had already found themselves in the endzone and up on the scoreboard 7-0.
Atlantic received the ball back but again failed to move the ball upfield and was forced to punt again, this time from within their own goal line.
A mere three plays later the Panthers again found themselves in the endzone this time up 13-0 after Atlantic blocked Creston’s PAT attempt.
The Trojans’ only score came from a interception by junior cornerback Dillon Sonntag which was returned for a touchdown.
Creston earned a homecoming win against Atlantic defeating the Trojans 56-6 and moving on to 5-0 on the season.
Atlantic drops to 1-4 and looks to break the losing streak next week at home against Glenwood.
The Trojans’ next game is this Friday, back on their home field, against Glenwood.
