Freshmen Boy's vs. Lewis Central Titans

On Friday, Jan. 15 the freshman boys’ basketball team traveled to Lewis Central to battle against the Titans.

They played tough game but could not handle the talent and skill of the Lewis Central team that came out on top. The final score was Lewis Central 45 Atlantic 21.

Atlantic struggled to get into any sort of rhythm on offense with LC in their face the whole game. Even though they handled the Titans press fairly well, they could not execute on offense or get enough stops on the defensive end to keep the game close.

Coach Krause said, “We didn’t play consistent enough to win the game. This team needs more consistent scorers within the games.”

With the Trojans not shooting well, and LC making shots, their emotions ran high and Atlantic had lost their mental focus early in the game.

“We need to shoot the basketball with more confidence,” said Krause.

The Trojans have been on a downhill slide for the past few games. Chase Mullenix has moved up to JV/varsity, so the team is in need of a new, consistent scorer. Mullenix showed his skill level in freshman games, and now is carrying that consistency onto the varsity court, scoring 13 points against LC.

Hopefully the boy’s can end their string of bad games, and find the key player that they need to lead the team to victory.

On Friday, Jan., 22, the freshmen team lost a hard fight against the Clarinda Cardinals. This Friday, Jan. 29, play the Red Oak Tigers in Red Oak starting at 4:30.
