PREVIEW: Girls’ Basketball Team vs. Denison Monarchs

Jaxon Eden

The Trojan girls look to bounce back from a loss last Tuesday night against Harlan. They play Denison on Friday, Jan. 8, in Denison.

The Monarchs are 4-4 on the season and the Atlantic girls are 5-5.  So by the record it appears to be an evenly matched game.

According to coach Kelly Juhl, the key for the Trojans is guarding post Jaque Ingram who is averaging 15.9 points per game and 9.1 rebounds per game.  Juhl said, “We need to keep her off the glass and limit her to one shot.”

Another player they are keying on is Alex Mohr. She is shooting 31.6 percent from beyond the arc this season and is averaging 11.6 points per game.

The Trojans do have some advantages. Senior guard Erin Olsen is second in the conference in scoring with 17.2 points per game.

The Trojans are preparing right now by working on man to man defense and “pushing the tempo to make them get up and down,” Juhl said.
