McTeacher’s night is a fundraiser for the AHS music department’s trip to Chicago. Choir director Jennifer Gaesser, band director Jarrod O’Donnell, Pam Russell, and Linda Nichols will be working at McDonald’s Thursday Oct. 10 from 4- 8 pm.
McDonald’s contacted Gaesser, and with the upcoming trip, Gaesser and O’Donnell agreed it was a good idea. Gaesser said, “I’m very excited to work. I think this is a great opportunity to get involved with the community here at Atlantic and it’s a way for people to help support the Atlantic AHS music department for the upcoming trip.” They are receiving 30% of profits, which on an average night would be around $500. O’Donnell said he hopes this event raises interest and they raise even more than that.
About 60 Atlantic band and choir students will be visiting Chicago. They will be seeing the Chicago Symphony, seeing the million dollar quartet, and visiting the Shedd Aquarium.
Senior Paige Sorensen, who is going on the trip, said she is looking forward to seeing the Chicago symphony because “the Chicago Symphony is beautiful.” Freshman Katie Darrow said she is looking forward to “hanging out with people for multiple days in a different place. It will be fun!” Darrow is going to try to go to McTeacher night. Gaesser said, “I’ve heard of a couple of groups coming in just to get served by Mr. O’Donnell and myself.”
“Come to McDonalds” said O’Donnell. “and order everything off of the menu!” O’Donnell and Gaesser will be there from 4:00-8:00pm.
