Atlantic High School has some new tools to play with.

One of the new teachers Derek Bair, a Wood Processing teacher has spent a total of $17, 400.00 on new power tools.

Bair has had an interest of woodworking since high school and has brought the class to Atlantic High School.

Bair purchased new power tools because the original tools were outdated and for some, in disrepair.

The new power tools that Bair got was a grizzly table saw, 2 miter saws, drill press and several corded power tools. Purchase of four cordless drills and other accessories (circular saw, reciprocating saw), mini lather with tooling, pneumatic brad nailer, carving tools, disk sander, oscillating drum sander, squares, measurement tools (angle indicators, dial calipers, micrometers), router with router table, chisels, wood mallets, log mortise and tenon cutters.

The agriculture department is planning grant money received for next year, to purchase the replacement table saw and a new miter saw.

According to Bair in regard to what his students to expect from the new tools.

“Basically they will be using new equipment that has been purchased since 16 yrs.”
