The National Honor Society will expand the power of its blood drive to help a child with a rare autoimmune disease. NHS has invited local businesses and individuals to contribute an amount of money per unit of blood donated at the drive on Wednesday, Jan. 26. This money will go towards a fund for the Addison Lennon-Glade family. According to the Atlantic News-Telegraph, Addison, the two-year old daughter of Nick Glade and Abigail Lennon, has a rare cancer-like disease that is found in only one in 400,000 children.
At this time, businesses and individuals have donated amounts varying from $0.25 to $1.10 per unit of blood collected. The NHS blood drive generally collects approximately 100 units of blood.
