Trojan Soccer Travels to Glenwood!

By Tanner Mauk and Matthew Smith

On Mon., April 21, the boys soccer team traveled to Glenwood to take on the Rams with a record of 2-3 going into the match. The Trojans were hoping to go onto the field and level out their record, but their dream didn’t come true. The Trojans lost to an experienced Glenwood team with a score of 6-0.

The scoring came very early in the first half for the Rams. About 15 mins into the game they were up 3-0 with some fast breaks and a few back post crosses. The Trojans would keep that score for the rest of the half. During their halftime huddle Head coach Justin Williams said, “This is the first time we aren’t down 5 or more at half.”

In the second 40 minutes, the Trojans kept them away from the goal for a little longer than the first half, but the Rams were able to push their offense again to put up 3 more goals.

The coaches and players weren’t happy with a loss, but they were pleased with the passing and spacing against the veteran soccer team. The Trojans will finish off the week with a game against Nodaway Valley on Thursday and their annual home tournament on Saturday.
