The annual Homecoming parade is Friday, Sept. 27 at 2:30 p.m. The route will be similar to the previous years. The parade will start at the middle school, turn west onto 10th Street, turn north onto Chestnut, then proceed down to Second Street turning east at Cappel’s.
The king and queen candidates will be transported by two jeeps and six convertibles. If there is rain, the candidates will ride in trucks from Deter’s Motors. Candidates for the girls are Lisa Gearheart, Lauren Krogman, Maren McNees, Meghan Plambeck, Leah Tjepkes, Monica Witzman, Lillie Zablocki. Candidates for the guys are Nick Barry, Tyler Christensen, Preston Hoye, Jacob Johnson, Tanner Lovell, Logan Steffens, Adam Wieser.
Judging of the floats will be Thursday at 6:30 p.m. Students will not know who is judging the floats. The judges won’t be related to anyone in the school. Senior Jez Phippen said,“Senior class is going to win the float building and the spirit stick.”
Local business participating in the parade are not made public until Thursday afternoon. All community members are invited and encouraged to celebrate Homecoming and watch the fun-filled parade.
