Sophie Johnson, Senior Magazine Lead Editor
Sophie Johnson (17) is a senior editor for the Senior Magazine. She has always loved to write and liked poetry, and that is why she first got into journalism. She also had an older brother, Korbin Johnson, who participated, and she “really looks up to him.” The best part of journalism is “the independence you get.” Johnson said, “You have Berryhill if you need help, but she trusts you enough to have a student-driven organization.” And she trusts that you are capable of getting your roles done.
Outside of school, she does choir, plays seven instruments, enjoys reading, spending time with family and friends, reading the Bible, and praying. She is also involved in many activities in school. At AHS, she is involved in journalism, choir, show choir, AHS Fuel, cross country manager, NHS, Quill and Scroll, Speech and Debate, and the musical. Fall of 2026, she plans on attending Iowa State University in hopes of pursuing the pre-med track. She is very close with her older brother, and her parents are “two of her best friends.”
