Sophomore Calianda Thompson is a first-year journalism student. She works hard and gets things done. Journalism has taught her “responsibilities, to really be a leader, and to be true or honest." Thompson is looking forward to diving into the yearbook unit and learning more about what makes a good journalist. “My favorite memory from journalism is the first stories we did [about popular music]. Especially listening to the albums with Hadin Thompson,” Calianda Thompson said. 

Journalism isn’t the only thing she has been involved in. Thompson is involved in Student Council, AHS Fuel, and track. Outside of school Thompson enjoys hanging out with friends and being employed at Care Initiatives in Atlantic. 

Thompson mentioned one of her favorite childhood memories.  “We lived in a house in Valisca. There was a pond there and my brother stuck out his hand catching a bird.” She said the bird was not hurt.

Post high school Thompson is planning on going to college for nursing degree. She might like to eventually work as a traveling nurse. Her choice of college is undecided, but Thompson's got a couple more years ahead of her to decide.
