After an impressive senior season, leading the Trojanns by averaging 11.7 points per game, senior Taylor Young was selected to play in the 2011 Southwest Iowa Classic XV. Young was one of 40 southwest Iowa senior girls and boys participating in the all-star basketball games on Sunday, March 27. The games took place at Kanesville Arena on the Iowa Western Community College campus in Council Bluffs.
According to the Omaha World-Herald, Young led the large school squad with 14 points, seven rebounds, and an assist in the girls game. Young’s outstanding performance earned her the Most Valuable Player Award for the Large schools.
Young said, “It was an honor to be selected to the team and an even bigger honor to be named MVP. I was really surprised.”
The Large Schools defeated the Small Schools 77-74.
