Recent Wartburg College graduate, Ethan Pruisman, is the new vocal teacher at AHS. This is his first year teaching. Throughout the day, Pruisman has three different class periods for the three different choirs–concert choir, chamber chorale, and the treble singers. When he isn’t teaching a large group, you can find him perfecting the pitch of vocal students during their lesson times.

Pruisman cited his past teachers for inspiring him to major in education. “The teachers I’ve had, and continued to have, have always shown passion towards music and teaching,” he said.

Besides choir, Pruisman is also the head of the show choir. Pruisman plans on helping with the fall play, and taking on the spring musical. He is also helping with the swimming program, as he swam in high school. Noting that he likes the community vibe of Atlantic, he hopes to contribute to the close-atmosphere by going to “at least one sporting event for each sport” each season.

Music has always been a hobby for Pruisman, but “now it is more of a lifestyle.” Besides writing, playing, and analyzing music, he plays tennis and watches Netflix. He also spends his time taking care of his beard. “I’m not kidding, I have four or five beard products,” he said.

With the school year underway, Pruisman said he hopes to pass along his passion for music to his students.
