Separate Academic from Athletic Punishments

When an athlete in school gets in trouble, the teacher in that class always sends an email to the coach.  This does not make sense to me. The teacher has the power to enforce punishment in their own classroom.  Instead though, they email the athlete’s coach and running is always the punishment.  After everyone on the team runs, all the teammates are upset because they ran for something they didn’t do.  This takes away from important practice to just run for one kid. I think teachers should keep the punishments in school, and not bring it into after school activities.
