Day Twelve: “The Santa Clause”
In my opinion, “The Santa Clause” is probably one of the best Disney Christmas films made yet, excluding the “Good Luck Charlie” Christmas movie. This movie, or I guess series of movies, tells the story of a dad who is trying to keep the withering Christmas spirit alive in his son, despite the fact he can tell his son doesn’t enjoy being around him and the lack of any sense of family in their dysfunction. In this comedic film, Santa falls off the roof of Scott’s (Tim Allen from “Home Improvement”) house and they (meaning Scott and his son) witness Santa die. Then, they are transported to the North Pole where Scott is told he has to become the new Santa.
I remember watching this movie when I was little and I just thought it was the best Christmas movie ever. Now, I wouldn’t say it is the best Christmas movie, but I will say it is definitely up there. It is pretty funny, which means it’s also pretty entertaining to me. I think another reason why I enjoyed this movie so much as a kid is because I can relate to Scott’s kid a lot.
This movie is available on Disney+.
