Day Six: “The Grinch” but in Cartoon Form
I can’t believe we are already halfway through the 12 Days of Christmas movies. That being said, winter break is approaching us, and so are finals. Today’s movie is “Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch,” which was released in 2018.
As a big fan of the 2000 film “How The Grinch Stole Christmas,” starring Jim Carrey, I wasn’t quite sure how I was going to feel about the animated one. There’s definitely a big difference between the narrators, one is known for being Hannibal Lector and the other is known for a song called “Happy.” I think it’s pretty cool this movie focuses more on the preparation for stealing Christmas, instead of focusing more on Cindy Lou.
The music was done by the one and only Danny Elfman, who has also done music for movies like “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” “Corpse Bride,” and many other films Tim Burton has been involved in. This movie is way different than what it seems Elfman normally does, but I think he does a great job anyway. Don’t come at me, but I honestly think Elfman is a better movie-score composer than John Williams. Williams has just done bigger movies. Again, don’t come at me.
This movie is available to watch on Netflix.
