Day One: T’was A “Nightmare Before Christmas”
On the first day of Christmas, Disney+ gave to me “The Nightmare Before Christmas.”
As a fan of Tim Burton, I have always loved this movie, even though it was actually directed by Henry Selick. This darkly-enthusiastic stop-motion flick pairs as a Halloween and a Christmas movie. From “This is Halloween,” to “What’s This?” this movie has the best of both holidays.
For those of you who haven’t seen this movie, it follows the Pumpkin King, or Jack Skellington, as he realizes his dreams of making children smile instead of scream. During his mini mid-death (because he is a skeleton) crisis, he finds the Christmas holiday. Everything turns chaotic, and the people from the town of Halloween try to take over Christmas, but it does not sit well with “Sandy Claws” (better known as Santa Claus). Anyway, a bunch of stuff goes down with Jack and “Sandy” (for what I think are obvious reasons but I won’t spoil them).
You can watch “The Nightmare Before Christmas” on Disney+ or buy the DVD or buy it online.
