Mallory Kirchhoff
There is a good chance students at AHS know ISS Coordinator Mallory Kirchhoff for her vibrant hair and personality, but what is lesser known is her devotion to her three companions–Stella, Mabel, and Lily. Stella, an eight-year-old puggle, and Mabel and Lily, one and four-year-old blue myrtle pomeranians–are key members of Kirchhoff’s life. She refers to them as her “kids.” In the past, she has brought them along to a family photo shoot.
Kirchhoff received Stella after moving into her own house. She had wanted a puggle through college, and buying her own home gave her the freedom to act upon that wish. Lily came four years later. After spotting the uniquely colored puppy on a facebook post, Kirchhoff and her colleague Trisha Niceswanger went to go see her and instantly fell in love. Her newest addition is Mabel, who is a sister to Lily. As blue myrtle coloring is very rare, Mabel was gifted to Kirchhoff in order to prevent the young pup from being placed in a puppy mill. Mabel looks similar to Lily, but has a different eye color.
All three of Kirchhoff’s pets are very loving. They spend most of their time napping, snuggling, and keeping a good watch on the neighborhood–while occasionally escaping their kennels. Though very fond of her canines, Kirchhoff does not see herself obtaining any more in the near future. “I am happy with the ones I have,” she said.
