Danna Saeugling
Secretary Danna Saeugling has had dogs all her life, a plus side to growing up on a farm. It’s no surprise that she currently owns a yellow lab named Ranger. The 11-year-old canine was adopted by Saeugling’s family as a puppy. According to Saeugling, Ranger was a surprise. Though she wanted a dog, it was her husband who brought the puppy home as a gift to their children.
Saeugling describes her pet as being “very protective. [He] likes to save us from the mailman and UPS man.” Ranger enjoys being around his family and going for car rides to check on the cattle. His tricks include shaking and laying on command, as well as retrieving toys by name. Though he is talented, Ranger is much more concerned with the treat given after completion rather than the trick itself. “He loves bread; drool runs out his mouth for it,” Saeugling said. After a trick, Ranger, who knows where the bread is kept, will go and sit by the bread jar and patiently wait for his reward.
Saeugling says in the future she plans on always having a dog, as her kids have graduated and she enjoys coming home to someone who is always excited to see her.
