Teachers’ Pets
They're not always students.
Pets have been around since the beginning of time. From dogs to spiders, it’s safe to say that almost everyone has had a pet sometime in their life. Pets can serve as friends, guard animals, service animals, and just about anything else. Though students may not realize it, many teachers at AHS own a pet–or multiple. Math teacher Sheila Hayden, though not currently owning any animals, even had eight birds at a time. Stemming from the mis-gendering of a bird, Hayden found herself surrounded by birds and more birds. As of now, she doesn’t plan on getting any more pets any time soon. From secretaries to band directors, pets seem to be quite popular among Atlantic High School teachers.
