Over the Thanksgiving break the AHS wrestling team will have their wrestle-offs to decide who will be on the varsity roster at each weight class for the first dual meet held Nov. 29 at Audubon.
Wrestlers compete at each weight class and the winner, or champion of two out of three challenge matches, holds the varsity spot that week.
Coach Duff allows wrestle-offs every week so it gives wrestlers incentive to work hard and challenge for a varsity spot. AHS junior Dillion Cox said, “We’ll have a pretty good lineup for the upcoming meets and tournaments.”
The first round of challenges occurred the Saturday following Thanksgiving, the second round of wrestle-offs will take place Monday, Nov. 26. Parents and community are welcome to attend this event at 6:30 p.m. in the wrestling room on the backside of the school. Sophomore Matt Smith said, “The wrestle offs will show the public how hard we’ve worked in the wrestling room.”
