Boys’ basketball anticipates a winning season

By Bailey Walter and Hailey Waters

The boys’ basketball team is anticipating a great season this year. They have many returning players. Head coach Steve Blazek said, “We have four starters that have started since sophomores. The league is tough, our goal is to win conference and end up in Des Moines.”

Senior point guard Chad Christensen agrees.  Christensen said, “The team needs to be unselfish and get everyone involved because we have a pretty tough team if everyone is on the same page.”

Freshman coach Jeremy Blake commented on the varsity potential, “In all honestly, Wells Fargo or bust.”

Blake looks for the team to improve from last season. He would like to see the team “competing for the full 32 minutes of the game.  Last season we started giving up, but if we fight the whole 32 minutes, winning should be no problem.”

Blazek said the boys need to keep a strong composure and be defensively tough to get a lead on the other teams. Blake added to Blazek’s thought and said, “We get the players better every day, push them to their best ability.”

Practice starts on Wednesday, Nov. 11. The first game of the season is Friday , Nov. 30  at Glenwood.
